What's the difference?
Generally speaking, there are a multitude of differences betwen soy free pasture-raised eggs and store bought eggs, which include (but are not limited to) the treatment of the hens themselves, their feed, the result of healthier eggs, as well as the benefits from an agrigultural standpoint.
Soy free pastured eggs
Our Hens are housed in mobile caravans with roll away nesting boxes to keep the eggs clean. The hens are moved to fresh pasture bi-weekly. We have chosen to feed our hens a soy free organic principle mix because we believe that soy may cause health issues. Removing soy changes the omega 3 to 6 ratio 2 of the egg a lower omega 6 ratio is a better for your health. We grow our hens from day old to ensure that they do not have any soy in their diet for their entire lives.
The Egg Cycle
Our hens are housed in mobile caravans with roll away nesting boxes to keep the eggs clean. The hens are moved to fresh pasture bi-weekly. Our hens follow behind the cattle and the cattle are rotated around the property based on our grazing plan which is similar in principle to that of the animals living on the vast plains of Africa or America, we try to mimic natural wild animals. What this means for our cattle is that we do not need to use manufactured chemicals to worm the animals as the intestinal worm cycle is broken by the cattle continually moving to fresh pasture and hence no residue is left behind for the hens. We do not use any chemicals on our pasture to fertilize or for weed management, so our hens forage on nutrient dense pastures.
Our cattle are followed by pastured hens who will distribute the cattle manure around the paddock and fertilise the pasture. We do not over graze our pasture and are building organic matter in the soil, this allows the sequestering of carbon from the atmosphere and the production of nutrient dense food, for you the consumer.
